Also known as abrasive blasting/sand blasting, shotblasting is the process used to clean metal. The process removes contaminants such as rust and mill scale, resulting in a finer finish to painted products and improves the longevity of surface finishes.
Existing metalwork can be shotblasted to remove old finishes such as years of paint, pollution and corrosion, returning them to their former glory. Britannia’s on site painting facilities enable us to prime items immediately after shotblasting to minimise rust formation.
Finishing grades are SA1- SA3, see preparation guides below:
SA 1: Light blast cleaning.
SA 2: Thorough blast cleaning.
SA 2.5: Very thorough blast cleaning.
SA 3: Blast cleaning to visually clean steel.
Britannia were asked to restore client’s garden chairs and table to its original condition.
The first step was to shotblast the furniture to remove the old paint and primer. They were then zinc coated and primed and painted white.
