STANWAY HOUSE ESTATE FENCING RESTORATION
We are very proud of the fact that we managed to reuse approx. 75% of the existing materials during this highly challenging refurbishment project. Most who would have seen the 2km spaghetti mess of intertwined rails and rapidly deteriorated uprights would have immediately suggested replacement in order to deliver a quality end result. However, we are committed to minimum intervention and upon close inspection we found most of the existing materials could be saved.
The nature of this project required an approach of absolute care as well as plenty of elbow grease! We had to remove existing stakes most of which had rotted at the bases, clean these up and weld new bases for each. These were then reset into the ground. The horizontal rails were straightened and cleaned, and rethreaded before welding and painting.
As well as the restoration of the Estate fence we were also required to restore the original gates & replicate the cast posts, most of which had been lost. Here we used our in house 3D CAD specialities to accurately model the existing posts & finials and then had a specialist company machine them. This approach was considerably cheaper than casting new posts. The project took one of our teams approx. 3 months.
