PRIVATE ZOO, THE MIDLANDS
We have built hundreds of fences throughout the UK over the last 15 years and come across a lot of unexpected and interesting challenges and have more so on a recently completed installation in the Midlands for a lovely client who has a private zoo.
Our client rationalised the fencing in the various paddocks around the house, all of which were to have a variety of different animals, highland bulls, donkeys, alpacas, doe, sika and fallow deer, and our favourite, George The Reindeer.
The solution required various different heights of estate fencing, so as not to give the height of imprisonment, ranging from 4’ or 6’ depending on the animal, and a series of different height estate gates improving the flow and movement of animals in between paddocks. It was important to ensure the height change was seamless and that the lower rails of the fence flowed properly and these had to be blended gradually to achieve this.
We put a lot extra underground support on sections of the 5ft fence to contain two of the largest, heaviest highland bulls imaginable.
Much of the fence was installed with the animals in place, and the team had to keep an eye out for the animals, in particular George the Reindeer, when his mate came into season.
The result looks great, it has hugely smartened up The Paddocks and a really good example of how estate fencing along with matching gates can be the best solution both aesthetically and practically.
